Democrats Women and the 2020 Election

As we get ready for a weighty election in 2020 to decide whether the incumbent candidate, Republican Donald Trump will have four more years in office, whether we will let a Democrat or even a Democrat woman lead, it is clear that Trump and the Republicans are doing everything they can to make sure the playing field is not level and favors them. These tactics are in addition to the attacks on voting rights in America, especially Democrat voting rights.

The Democrats won a majority of seats in the House of Representatives but they have been sidelined, effectively stripped of real power by some pretty unprecedented and perhaps unconstitutional strategies, that this President, Trump, not a by-the-rules kind of guy, likes to use. These tactics are ridiculously transparent and should not work but his peeps have placed him in a fortified tower where he seems untouchable (word choice, deliberate).

The Democrats are trying to ignore the fact that, to almost 40% of Americans, they have been sold as annoying gnats, a ghost party, an object of trolling and derision. Democrats are hoping for two long-shot outcomes in 2020 (at least 2). 1) They want to elect a Democrat to the Presidency, and 2) They want to elect a woman to the Presidency. The Dems test of a good candidate right now is ‘can that candidate beat Donald Trump’. So far, among 25+ candidates no one seems to be a real stand-out, but if you watch any news program, women are certainly not making the cut.

Donald Trump has a truly underhanded quiver of election arrows which seem quite crude. Each and every day Americans are informed of the sins of Democrats. They actually, supposedly, did every single thing we all suspect that Trump and the Republicans did. Isn’t that quite a coincidence? And that’s not all, Dems ruined the economy, and ruined health care, broke trade, almost dismantled the fossil fuel industry. Therefore all things lib are awful and must be quashed. Trump has followers who constantly troll Democrats and Liberals, women, and now Progressives, on the internet with insults fed to them by the Fox channel. It is almost like getting strafed every time a head appears above the ditch Dems are supposedly standing in.

According to Trump, lefties have spied on the Trump campaign (no proof). They rigged the vote (again, evidence?). They conspired with Russia (the Steele report, the FISA warrant requests re Carter Paige – what?) Of course Hillary did not win the Presidency, but according to Trump that’s because she is so inept. It is actually the Dems who conspired (colluded) with the Russians (?) So the Russians must be quite inept too, because Trump won. (Hint-Trump cheats).

So this has to be about I’m rubber, you’re glue, “everything you say bounces off me and sticks to you”. It is the equivalent of shooting someone on Fifth Avenue and getting away with it, which has metaphorically happened more than once in this presidency.

Again according to Trump, Hillary is a demon, in fact, all women are pretty demonic. The Democrats are traitors and the party is on life support. The FBI is subverted and is actively undermining the Trump presidency (shame on you Peter Strzok and Lisa Paige, really shame on you for giving this person ammunition), and Mueller wrote 400 pages to tell the DOJ that Trump was totally exonerated, which only took four pages in Barr-speak. Barr withholds the full report from we the people which is not so unusual but he also withholds it from Congress which is very unusual. (Barr’s actions are somewhat equivalent to watching a pregnant elephant carrying a baby for about two years and then having that baby elephant placed in solitary confinement as soon as it is born by someone who says to the mom and all of us, “it is mine and you can’t see it”.)

Furthermore Trump contends the entire thing is a huge conspiracy by the “deep state” (a descriptor that refers to different actors depending on who employs it). Add it on to all the old “Benghazi” and “child abuse” threads in the conspiracy theory that the right wing likes to keep spinning out and the Dems are destined not only for political oblivion but will be left out of the Rapture and sent straight to h-e-double hockey sticks. (Isn’t this a fairly complex narrative? Whatever happened to Occam’s razor?)

So, as Democrats have clearly, according to Trump and his minions, been checkmated, only some stunning circumstances will give Dems the victory in 2020. No one seems to believe, possibly including me, that a woman can win the race in 2020.

It certainly is time for a woman to be President and I know a woman could do the job very well, but the patriarchy is obviously not done hogging this privilege and responsibility and the public is not done letting them. If women in the race were not so outnumbered by men (and by men who conveniently have the letter B in their name making it easy for the press to focus on this group) I would suggest that candidates pair off, a woman and a man, running for President and Vice President as a team, with the man agreeing that the female candidate would assume the higher office.

OK, I know I am asking for mountains of criticism. But does anyone see a woman being elected President in this particular election? Will the men we elect just keep getting older and older? I know age is supposed to bring wisdom, but sometimes it just brings arthritis. Still the old men are the ones we know, the ones with experience, the ones who don’t seem hopelessly invisible. And, we remind ourselves, they have paid their dues.

I remember when Golda Meir was Prime Minister of Israel. She seemed so wise and motherly, although if you read about her time in office she certainly did not get perfect grades. I wonder if Elizabeth Warren might turn out to be a trimmer but equally comforting Golda-style leader, who also gets things done. Or maybe Kamala Harris, or Amy Klobuchar or Kirstin Gillibrand could offer us a very America version of the wise woman as a nurturing, but fiercely protective leader, providing effective governance both at home and abroad. America does not seem to be feeling it yet. Is there any way we can get both things we want in the 2020 election? Could each man running invite a woman to the dance? Let her lead. Women could be wooed by more than one man?

Shine a Light: Is it OK to sign OK

Conspiracy theories and conspiracies come from dark places. Hard to tell if it is best to let them remain in those dark spaces since they seem to keep seeping out into our lives in secret slips or leaks that make them seem tantalizingly real. The human mind loves being privy to gossip, loves to pass on a secret, especially a secret that hides an evil idea behind a veil of exclusivity, a sense of belonging to a private club. However, perhaps it is better to shine a light on the darkest corners of the human soul to make hiding evil impossible.

So I am going to discuss a human activity which looks like it signifies a dark reality. It may be about a private ‘club’ but not one I want to belong to. I am doing this in the interests of shining light on dark spaces. But I am also trying to decide if our President lives in this dark space and likes to signal it surreptitiously to his followers

If you watch Trump speak at a rally you will notice him making a gesture with his thumb and ring finger in a circle, other three fingers upright. We think of this as the sign for OK. That may be true for Trump also. He may just be used to incorporating that OK sign as one of his regular hand gestures. Here is an article with a video of the speech Trump made in March, 2019 at a rally in Michigan. You don’t have to watch the entire thing to see what I am talking about. Make sure to look at around the 41-42 second mark, at 2:51-1, at 3:28, at 4:02-06, at 4:35-36, 4:55-5:00, 5:36-37, 5:50-5:51 and I’m sure it comes up many more time.

It turns out that many sources say this OK signal, once so positive is now used by white supremacists as a sort of secret ‘gang’ sign to show the omnipresence of this group in our culture, especially among Trump supporters. Now Trump is an ‘old school’ kind of guy so his use of this sign or gesture could just be a coincidence. Or perhaps white supremacists noticed that Trump used this gesture a lot and decided to copy it. I have no idea if Trump’s use of this sign signals his America First, white power stance, which he telegraphs but likes to deny, or if it is a gesture so ingrained in his repertoire that he cannot break himself of an old habit that is no longer really culturally appropriate for the President of the United States to use.

Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about it:

In 2017, the OK gesture was at the center of an online prank in meme culture related to alt-right and white supremacyoriginating from anonymous message board posts on the website 4chan.[40] The Boston Globe reported that users on 4chan’s “/pol/” (Politically Incorrect) board were instructed in February 2017 to “flood Twitter and other social media websites…claiming that the OK hand sign is a symbol of white supremacy,” as part of a campaign dubbed “Operation O-KKK”.[36] The association of the gesture with white supremacy derived from the assertion that the three upheld fingers resemble a ‘W’ and the circle made with the thumb and forefinger resemble the head of a ‘P’, together standing for “white power”.[41] While some members of the alt-right used the symbol after the launch of the 4chan campaign, it remained ambiguous whether or not it was being used to communicate genuine adherence to white supremacy, or with deliberately ironicmotives.

More sources if you are interested:

Is Trump trolling us, is he bonding with his peeps, or is he just an old guy using a symbol that used to have only one connotation? It’s a mystery as are so many things these days.

The Big Conspiracy Theory That Explains Everything

QAnon has finally made it into the mainstream

I have been keeping an eye on this extremely complex conspiracy theory since before the 2016 election because I began following a rather mysterious blog called Kauilapele’s Blog which kept referring rather obliquely and in coded language about this theory which is often referred to as Q. The whole elaborate intellectual structure could be just the twisted nonsense it sounds like, created by ordinary people to see an order, however nefarious, imposed from above by economic elites. It could also, I suppose, have some elements of truth behind it.

Here’s some of what was discussed today (Sunday, July 7, 2018) in the Daily Beast.

“Plotters in the deep state tried to shoot down Air Force One and foil President Trump’s North Korea summit. A cabal of global elites, including top figures in Hollywood, the Democratic Party, and the intelligence agencies, are responsible for nearly all the evil in the world. And now Trump is going to fix it all with thousands of sealed indictments, sending the likes of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama straight to Guantanamo Bay.

Or at least that’s how the world is going for the believers of QAnon, the complex pro-Trump conspiracy theory that’s starting to having unpredictable effects in real life. The real  news can be bad for Trump, but in QAnon-world, the president and his supporters really are getting sick of winning.”

QAnon is unusual, according to University of Miami professor Joseph Uscinski, because it offers Republicans an alternate view of the world when they already control nearly the entire government. Usually, “conspiracy theories are for losers,” Uscinski said,

“Normally you don’t expect the winning party to use them, except when they’re in trouble,” Uscinski said.

“But the general story, outlined in a pro-QAnon video endorsed by Schilling, is that every president before Trump was a “criminal president” in league with all the nefarious groups of conspiracy theories past: the global banking elite, death squads operating on orders from Hillary Clinton, deep-state intelligence operatives, and Pizzagate-style pedohpile rings. In an effort to break this cabal’s grip, according to Q, the military convinced Trump to run for president.”

(This article also shows tweets connecting Roseann Barr to the Q group.)

Related Conspiracy Theory

This seems to be an extension of the theories about the New World Order and the Illuminati that I was hearing about just prior to the 2016 election which linked Hillary Clinton to the 13 Families who control all the events in our world. She does not belong to the these families according to the people sharing their prescience with us, but she partakes of some of the rituals practiced by these sick folks which include pedophilia and child trafficking (the roots of Pizzagate, a piece of conspiracy theory I never saw mentioned before the attack on Cosmic Pizza in Washington DC). It is impossible to exactly pin down the details of this breathtaking cabal (and it is breathtaking even as fiction). But here are some articles that foreshadow the Q movement.

“Some say, in an attempt to restore “balance” in the world, a New World Order was formed. Formed by America and Europe’s most elite (both in terms of wealth and power) with historical roots that date back centuries. This power-house formed by 13 families is known to be controlling practically everything around the globe. From political parties around the world, courthouses, educational institutions, natural resources, foreign policies, food, national economies, media houses, even terrorist organisations. They are the ones who decide where and when the next terror attack is going to happen, they decide when the markets will fall, they decide when a new government needs to take over, they decide what happens at the UN, they decide practically everything.”

(In case you don’t like to read url’s, in this article you can learn 35 things that the ruling cabal does not want you to know.)

Not everyone who writes about this conspiracy theory agrees about the details, not everyone names the same 13 families as holding the reins of the New World Order and some writers give power to lesser mortals who hold wealth and power. The QAnon people believe that Trump is the man who will overturn the old order that is pulling the strings of fate but if one of the goals of the Council or the Cabal is to get the world population below 1 billion by any means possible it seems more likely that Trump is trying to join the Cabal.

Who is screwed in this world view is you and me, we the people, mere pawns in the ploys of the human members of the New Mount Olympus. They are quite as capricious, according to myth, as the Greek and Roman gods of old and ordinary people who get caught in their plots have no power over the outcome which could be either great or terrible. How much truth there is in this conspiracy theory we may never know. The culling of the herd could look very much like the Rapture. Does what you believe determine what you will get?

Perhaps this particular conspiracy theory flares up before elections for some pretty mundane reasons, like a desire to win. Picturing Trump as some superhero who will rescue us from the elites is beyond any mental gymnastics my brain is capable of performing.

The Last Great Conspiracy Theory?

Have we reached the last great conspiracy theory? We have been watching a conspiracy theory tennis tournament play out between the Democrats and the Republicans at least since 2012. The Benghazi tennis ball has been smashed back and forth for ages because the damning revelations were supposed to be timed to interfere with the 2016 election. Finally the anticlimactic report of the last Benghazi investigation (we hope it is the last because it’s costing the American people big bucks) concludes that all evidence suggests that Hillary Clinton was not guilty of any wrongdoing in this devastating attack in Libya. There was no assistance that could have arrived in time to save our people in Benghazi and Hillary Clinton was not, as many stated, asleep at the most crucial moments.

The fact that Hillary Clinton used a private server while at the State Department was the one juicy piece of info that came out of the Benghazi investigations. The Republicans put the Benghazi investigation to rest because they gleefully imagined that Hillary would be indicted by the FBI for something, treason, I guess. This seems a rather hyperbolic outcome to wish for given that it would suggest that Hillary is a seer who knew that the attacks in Benghazi would happen when she became Secretary of State and planned in advance to cover her tracks. But it sort of fits the Lucifer label that Republicans tried to attach to her at the RNC last week. (Republicans have a thing about Lucifer – they are so paranoid about the UN that they speak of something called the Luciferian Church of the UN, which does not exist.) I suspect they are saying that if Hillary is Lucifer on earth she could have known about the Benghazi attacks in advance. If you have to use this kind of bizarre reasoning to get where you want to go wouldn’t it seem that it is time to backtrack and start over, or just be quiet?

So now the GOP is left with just one more tennis ball to bat around and they must try to make the volley last until Hillary is tarred and feathered just before people go to the polls because Republicans cannot win this election without sliming their opponent, considering the caliber of their own candidate. This final round of our conspiracy tournament involves the Clinton Foundation and the arms deals made by the State Department while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. It is possible that these are two separate spheres that simply look like they overlap (a simple conflict of interest), or it is also possible that there was collusion between Bill and Hillary and that her arms deals while in the State Department were actually tied to the donations made to the Clinton Foundation. I have spoken before about the difficulty with seeing simple cause-effect relationships in complex matters. You must carefully connect the dots to prove that the money given to the Clinton Foundation was indeed used to influence arms deals in the State Department. The optics are bad, but is there actually any connection?

I don’t recall a time when we have had a husband and wife team where each partner had aspirations for the Presidency of the United States of America. Had the times been different for women would Eleanor Roosevelt have made a great Presidential candidate? Possibly. But that moment did not happen. But we are fifty plus years past those days. We now have a past President, Bill Clinton, doing his post Presidential best to help save the people on the planet from poverty and exploitation. And we have Hillary Clinton who believes she can do a good job as our first female President. I assume Bill Clinton’s goals are altruistic. Others assume he is using the Clinton Foundation to increase his personal wealth and bankroll his wife’s election campaign. People who hypothesize about this know that such activities are illegal and yet they believe that Bill and Hillary Clinton are so powerfully connected and privileged that they will not only steal from a charitable foundation with the family name right on it but also that their guilt will be covered up by powerful people. That all sounds pretty diabolical. But is it true?

Furthermore the argument goes on to say that Hillary drummed up contributions for the family charity while she made her rounds as Secretary of State and that she traded State Department arms deals for those contributions. There are the charts hanging out on the internet that look pretty damning.\

clinton foundation chart 1 big

clinton foundation chart 2 big

Yikes! I can see why people get all exercised over this. But just because events are contiguous does not prove a cause-effect relationship. If there is a true cause and effect connection between these two sets of data then perhaps Bill and Hillary Clinton should be in jail. But, even though Hillary’s judgment was called into question on the email server decision, it would take some pretty stunningly unrealistic rationalizations for the Clintons to sell arms through the State Department in exchange for campaign contributions from foreign governments and make those funds look like charitable donations. Why would anyone expect to get away with something so blatantly illegal when contemplating a run for the highest office in our nation? I still do not accept that the Clintons are corrupt enough to plan and execute a scheme like this. I believe that the Clinton Foundation is Bill’s project and does have charitable goals. I also believe that Hillary did not go around the globe trading ostensibly charitable contributions from foreign governments for arms offered to foreign nations by the State Department. Connect the dots if you can. If you can’t retire the ball and get off the court and end this third round of the great conspiracy tennis tournament.

Money and Hillary Clinton

I actually know very little about Hillary
Clinton and money, and neither,
apparently does anyone else, although there is plenty
of theory and conspiratorial conjecturing going on out there among those who
are either very informed or very paranoid. I don’t know what Hillary intended
in Libya, or in Africa, or in Honduras. There are many who call her the new
Dick Cheney or the new Henry Kissinger and imply that she is a Machiavellian
figure, or perhaps one of the Borgias.

To folks in these particular journalistic circles
she represents the very worst in American politics which has a secretive dark
agenda and sends out our government officials to meddle in the business of
nations around the world, build nations up and tear nations down, all for
cynical reasons having to do with economics and money. Or perhaps Hillary has
no mission to inform her actions but is simply acting on her own. According to
these folks Hillary is a sinister figure who ruins nations when their economies
are getting too successful and are challenging the America economy. Wow! Who
knew Hillary was this powerful and this corrupt? Apparently everyone but me.
Bernie Sanders indicts Hillary for using government
service to get rich. He tells his supporters anecdotes which supposedly prove
that she has offered influence in return for donations from wealthy nations.
Sanders apparently implies that the Clinton Foundation is a front to peddle
influence and line the Clinton’s pockets. He believes that accepting money from
Wall Street proves that you are absolutely corrupt. His followers believe all
this is true beyond a shadow of a doubt and they revile Hillary for this.
Again, I did not ascribe to Hillary even this level of villainy. They say that
Hillary is a criminal who should be indicted for war crimes, or crimes against
humanity, or bribery, or if nothing else sticks, then for the private email
server thing (possibly risking national security).
How naïve am I? I see that half of Congress is made
up of millionaires, many of whom lined their bank accounts while in government
service. I know that Bernie Sanders is solidly against money in politics,
feeling that it robs the people of their right to govern. I agree with him. I
was shocked when Citizen’s United was upheld by the Supreme Court, giving
legitimacy to all the money that floods in and befuddles politics in
Washington. But Hillary came up as a politician operating within the system we
have now. Bernie is a revolutionary who wants to dump the system we have now.
We could possible get money out of politics through a grassroots groundswell,
but it is more likely that it will be tough slog, accomplished in baby steps.
Hillary, as the first woman to get this close to
being an American President, has a foot in the past and a foot in the future.
She cannot be blamed for playing the game according to the rules of the boys
club. We are always changing the rules just when a woman arrives at a
threshold. Bernie’s purity did not help him shine in Congress although it
certainly looks appealing now. But there is no other person in our government
like Bernie Sanders and changing the way our government does business cannot be
as easy as he makes it sound. If Donald Trump is dividing the nation before he
gains the office, then Bernie Sanders is likely to divide it if he becomes our
President. People who have been on the gravy train for years are not going to
gently step aside. If we the people win the day it might be worth the fight,
but we could probably win the day eventually with just good solid strategy if
we had a plan.
I believe that people are painting Hillary as a
villain based on some pretty convoluted reasoning and theorizing. Of course, if
anyone can prove these accusations beyond any doubt then I suppose that Hillary
is too byzantine to make a good President. If she actually treats the globe
like some kind of calculated game of Risk then that is diabolical and she
should be stopped. I just don’t buy it though.

Sustainability is a word that people who are worried about our
planet, and people who feel that we must tackle issues like poverty, education,
and disease on a global level use because they believe that we are all
connected. We are all connected in ways we never were – by speedy travel, by
the media, by the internet, by business and military concerns. We didn’t make
this connected-ness happen by deliberately deciding to go global; our interests
became global because of all the ways we began to interconnect.
The Pope talked about sustainability. The UN talks about
sustainability. But there is a right wing campaign to make ‘sustainability’
into a word that represents the “dark side”. Ultra-Conservative Republicans are
telling people that there is a government/UN conspiracy to herd us into dense
urban centers, to get us to abandon the suburbs to the nefarious projects of
these two groups. They poo-poo the idea that providing expensive infrastructure
to ever more far-flung suburbs is costing us more than we can afford to collect
in taxes from hard-pressed citizens.
If you search the term sustainability I am sure you will run
across articles about Agenda 21. In fact, Glenn Beck, the extreme right wing
talk show host, wrote a book called Agenda 21. I have not read his book because
Glenn Beck gives me a stomachache, but it is a fiction book about the
apocalypse that will result if we implement Agenda 21 (the 21 refers to the 21st
century). There is also a follow-up book, Agenda 21: Into the Shadows.
Our poor planet is plundered, abused, trashed and will soon
house 9 billion people. It is not as if anyone has come up with a better plan
besides the UN Agenda 21 and the steps they suggest to promote sustainability.
The extreme right wing, of course, does not offer an alternative plan because
they deny that our planet is in jeopardy. They wish to continue plundering.
They have pursued the same tactics against the Affordable Care Act without
offering any plan except the old private insurance model that we had before the
ACA. They are akin to a marauding army that does a slash and burn as they go
and offers no quarter to people caught in the power struggles of the wealthy.
These same extremist in the right wing are demonizing the UN
while others who are not so extreme say that the UN may have little clout, but
that it is sincerely trying to address whole-planet issues because these
concerns affect all member nations. There are people in my own community who
publish a newspaper called The Patriot
(I wrote a blog about this paper) and in this paper they speak about “The
Luciferian Church of the UN”. That is a very literal example of what people
mean when they use the word demonizing. So taking a piece of emotional
propaganda and turning it into an institution, however fictional, proves that
the attack on Agenda 21 and sustainability is real. Do some reading about
sustainability yourself – make up your own mind. Don’t just accept the negative
things the right wing peddles on these subjects. Read Glenn Beck’s books if you
must, but keep in mind that they are fiction and that, as far as I know, Glenn
Beck has no superpowers.
Pope Francis addressed the UN while he was in NYC and the UN
revealed their 17 Global Goals for the years between now and 2030. The graphic
at the top of the page counts through these 17 important goals. You can find
this graphic in a larger format and you can find it broken out piece by piece
if you want more detail. I cannot imagine how it could hurt human life on earth
or damage the earth itself if we were to pursue any of these goals. Is
sustainability a plot to deprive you of your goods or your rights? Here are
some links if you would like to read about this matter some more.

The Doomsday Seed Vault – Altruism or Corporate Plot?

I started an article about the Doomsday Seed Vault. I thought, how awful, the apocalypse must be near. I thought, how nice, people are looking ahead to after the catastrophic end of the planet earth as we know it. But apparently the seed vault issue does not appear straightforward and altruistic to everyone. I found a fine can of worms and a story that reads like science fiction, but might be true, when the internet introduced me to F. William Engdahl who wrote an article called Seeds of Destruction, the Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation.
Remember these words from that Buffalo Springfield song, “For What It’s Worth: Paranoia strikes deep/into your life it will creep/it starts when you’re always afraid:
Reading Mr. Engdahl’s article brought these words to mind. I would like to totally discount Engdahl’s conspiracy theories about the seed vault because conspiracy theory is what he does and I sort of think of Bill and Melinda Gates, who have helped to fund this project, as philanthropists, but I know how deeply flawed humans are and it is just possible that there is some truth in the points that Engdahl makes. Why is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation partners in this project with The Rockefeller Foundation (which has a Population Control arm) and the US agribusiness giant DuPont, one of the world’s largest owners of patented genetically-modified (GMO) plant seeds and related agrichemicals, Syngenta, a Swiss-based GMO company, CGIAR, the global network created by the Rockefeller Foundation to promote its ideal of genetic purity through agricultural change?
Mr. Engdahl sees a number of motives for this particular group of individuals to form a Doomsday Seed Vault in a mountainside on an island off the coast of Norway in the Arctic and none of these motives are the least bit altruistic. They are all designed to take agriculture out of the hands of small farmers and make the world dependent on three or four large agribusiness groups for our food and other plant products like cotton. They do this by making hybrid seeds the only seeds available. There is an element of eugenics in this says Mr. Engdahl, similar to the genetic purity experiments of the Nazis.
Hybrid seeds cannot be collected and replanted in a subsequent season because they are infertile. Thus the farmer must buy new seed from agribusiness providers every season. This eventually forces the small farmer out of business and agribusiness fills the gaps. The small farmers are driven to the cities to be used as cheap labor by manufacturers. (They are all in this together apparently.) Agribusiness currently has its eye on Africa and what Mr. Engdahl calls “the New Green Revolution.”
Engdahl also suggests that genetically modified materials are being developed as biological weapons and he suggests that in a recent campaign supposedly designed to prevent tetanus in Mexican women, contraceptives were actually administered along with the vaccines. I wish I could doubt this but America has been guilty of the secret sterilization of at least two populations in our past, and to my once great chagrin, I find that Americans can hardly claim that we have always stuck to the high road. I am not, however, saying that Engdahl claims any connection between the American government and his paranoid or real concerns about the true purpose behind the Doomsday seed vault.
This is certainly better than many science fiction books I have read although I am not prepared to make a judgment about whether or not the facts of the matter prove Mr. Engdahl’s theories. After all there is often more than one way to interpret facts. However, I am saying, that knowing what I know, once I have heard that the Doomsday Seed Vault may be another corrupt and greedy plot, I will not be able to totally discount this without compelling evidence to the contrary. A less suspicious part of me still wants to believe these rich folks are just into preserving seeds for future generations. It is also possible that these wealthy people are looking ahead to feeding the ballooning population of the earth which will reach nine billion by 2050.
